Ya know, if it weren't for arcades, we wouldn't have home consoles. And if we didn't have MAME, the ORIGINAL emulator, we wouldn't have any other emulators!
So I feel that its important that MAME be the first download available in the emulation station.
And what better to include with the original emulator than the two most demanded games, both of which FINALLY work in both the PC and android versions!
These two games are a wonderful MESS.
Basically, take the original RPG, the one that started it all, and turn it into a side scrolling beat'em up in the vein of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game. (a more fitting example would be Knights of the Round, but that particular game will be included with the first SNES emulation package)
So, take a classic RPG, with its character development, deep story, and strategic gameplay, and somehow turn it into a mindless side scrolling, button mashing, enemy bashing action game? Sounds like a horrible idea, doesn't it?
WRONG!!!!!
I happily put well over 300 Dollars in quarters into this joy of an arcade game back in the day. Sadly it left my little arcade before I could make more offerings of silver to the altar of awesomeness...
And I never did get to enjoy the sequel to this game. But once, while at the beach, I spotted this gem... this rare beauty... this object of obsession.
But fate is a whore, and lady luck was on the rag that day, for this wonder of a game was dark and silent.
There it sat, in the corner, lifeless and sad, a strip of duct tape held a crudely scribbled note fast to its majestic screen.
"For Sale. 2299.000$ Will sell parts or cabinet separate. Speak to manager."
I honestly felt like finding the manager and kicking him square in his heartless balls. (yes, I know balls don't have hearts, smartass, I'm trying to be DRAMATIC!)
At 17 years old, I knew that there was no way I would be able to afford this game, and even if I could, I would never be able to bring it home.
So I was a sad, broken excuse for a man for the next 10 years.
Until finally, one fateful day, I decided to give Fate another chance, just as I have done many times before, only to have her break my heart again and again.
But this time was different. Maybe Fate was getting older, desperate. Maybe she felt the old biological clock ticking, and realized that I was the one to offer her the family and stability she secretly yearned for.
And so, I looked deep into Fate's eyes and saw the spark of love there, shining from within.
Time seemed to stand still as she leaned in to embrace me, her destiny.
Slowly, and with great care, I gently reached out to her.........
AND SMAKKED THAT BEEYOTCH!
"Get away from me, Fate! You're a day late, and a pocketfull of quarters short! You've screwed me over again and again, and I don't need you no' mo! I got me some MAME up in here! So suck it, ya fun-tease!"
I didn't pay attention as she ran away, screaming. I hope the door hit her azz on the way out!
I turned back to my new love. My shiny, shiny new version of MAME, which did play the two bestest games ever made for any arcade ANYWHERE!!!!!
*In case you can't tell by the above craziness, "I is am tired of sleepy and too"

These are called Flyers. These were the advertisements sent out to arcade owners to try and entice them into purchasing a full arcade cabinet, just the guts (the ROM boards and chipsets) or even a conversion for another arcade(as listed in the 2nd flyer). They can be downloaded and placed in the flyers folder in MAME32, and they will display when selecting the appropriate game. If you are interested in seeing all flyers for this game, then check HERE (just scroll down to the D&D listings)
AND if you want the full information on the arcade, including cheats, check HERE
And the sequel, that I never got to enjoy in the arcade...

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: TOWER OF DOOM

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: SHADOWS OVER MYSTARA
***************************************************************************************
Here are walkthroughs for each of the games, as I assure you, they will come in handy. These two are probably the ONLY side scrolling beat'em-ups you would ever need a walkthrough for!
Tower of Doom

And FINALLY...
What you have been waiting for!
Download MAME32(PC version ONLY!) - With both Dungeons & Dragons games
HERE
THIS FILE IS PASSWORD PROTECTED.
The password is quite simple really.
It's "elementals"
If you have problems with the password protected version of this file, or for whatever reason the file will not download (I've never used this file storage service before....) then please let me know right away. I can and will find another download site for you, if you can wait for the time it takes me to upload the file...
Please keep in mind that this file IS a zip file. All you have to do is unzip it, and place ALL of the folders into another folder on your desktop (or wherever), named MAME.
Since I created the file on my computer and uploaded it myself, I can assure you that there is no virus, adware, malware or any other "crap" with it.
It's just the MAME32 emulator and the game files for the two listed here.
IF ANYONE HAS TROUBLE GETTING THE MAME32.exe PROGRAM TO START, then right-click it, and select "Run as Administrator". This usually fixes EVERY problem with anything that doesn't want to run on windows 7 and similar windows versions.
********IMPORTANT NOTE*********
When you start MAME32, you might need to go to FILE and click "audit games". This will show you which games are in your ROMs folder (if you download any more MAME roms, put them in that folder) It will likely only recognize 2 games as being playable, being the US or WORLD versions of the D&D games.
Now, the most important part. When you click to load your game, be sure to hit the TAB KEY. This opens the control menu (only while a game is running).
This menu will let you change or view the controls, either the standard ones, or the ones for this game specifically. You can change the controls you whatever you want, but I highly suggest that you make an easy to use shortcut key (on your controller if you have one) to SAVE STATE and LOAD STATE.
In all emulators, the game can be saved at ANY point. This is what is known as a "saved state". You can also load any saved state, and continue the game from wherever you left off.
If you have any questions, please post them on this forum, and I will help you fix whatever you need help with.
************************************************
The Android version will be coming soon, check back later. The upload speeds on my ISP are HORRIBLE!
On a final note, you really should try to get some sort of controller to play this game (and just about EVERY emulated game, ever.).
There are more than a few options available. If you don't already have a gamepad (logitech sells one that is basically like the xbox360 controller with 100% programmable buttons, even using one of the sticks as a mouse if you like, for 10$) for your computer, then here are a few options.
If you own an xbox, and have a wired controller, it will plug right into your USB port.
However, please be CAREFUL AND READ THIS FIRST!!!!
Windows may attempt to install drivers for your xbox controller, or you may be directed, or locate the drivers for your controller directly from microsoft. THIS IS A BAD IDEA. If you do this, you will be unable to program the buttons as you wish.
Instead, download the hacked version of the xbox controller drivers, called XBCD.
You can download the file from redcloud's site, HERE.
There is probably a way to use a playstation controller as well, but I haven't had time to check it out. Just google it.
No matter what your controller options, you will eventually need a way to program the buttons. Usually your controller will come pre-packaged with software you can use, called a profiler. You can save multiple set-ups so that you can have controls set to your liking for every game you own.
If you have a controller but no profiling software, first look up the model of your controller online, and see if they have profiling software for it. (It will be a FREE download.)
If you happen to have a controller, but no way to program the buttons, then please check out THIS software, called Joy2Key which will allow you to program ANY controller that works with your computer.
Now, for the android version, the selection is kinda limited, and sadly, the best emulator comes from a jackass who deserves to have his testicles grilled well done, while still attatched, then fed to a rabid possum who digests, then poops, then have the sorry bastard force fed the possum-ball-poop.
Then we kill him. (and in a very specific way. See, we need a few things. One we can get at a meat packing plant, and the others we can get at the hospital. First we inject him with a coagulant that is normally given to hemophiliacs. This will keep him from bleeding to death. We also keep several syringes of adrenaline ready to go. Then we tie him up, and load him into an industrial sized meat slicer. Make sure he is pointed feet first. Set the slicer to the thinnest setting available. Thanks to the coagulant he will not bleed to death. And if the whining little pansy passes out from the unimaginable pain, just stab him in the heart with the adrenaline to keep him wide awake and screaming! I figure we should at least be able to make it to his upper torso before he goes into shock and dies.)
Evil bastard, ain't I?
The reason for the tall glass of haterade im serving up is due to the fact that this jerk STOLE every line of code from another project, then proceeded to get google to remove the original project, all because he released his first, in an UNPLAYABLE form, just to beat them to the punch, and steal their emulator.
And if that weren't reason enough to do everything Iv'e suggested and more to the sorry-assed chinese hacker, then know this...
The original program was the first and only MAME emulator on android to allow for save state feature (ya know, save anywhere, and pick it up later?). Oh, but the sorry jerk wasn't done yet...
The original emulator was going to be FREE. Well, this guy decided to offer his for free as well, but he disabled the Load State feature.
You can still save state, but of course, since you cant load, its kinda pointless. But since he is a smarmy git, he gives you an option to PAY to enable loading states.
But his bastardry knows no bounds. He made the only way to get the paid version was to go into the app, and click the paid version link which takes you to paypal. Then you have to pay 5 bucks.
It is totally dependent on your device, and the developer/bastard thief/future dead-man states that if you get a new device, then you have to pay again. he will not give you the code.
he did it this way because he himself is a hacker, and so he knows that its the only way to make sure that no one can get the full version without him getting money.
Also on many forums, I have found numerous complaints that after paying on Paypal, he still doesn't give you the code, and a few more complaints stating that he started stealing money from their Paypal accounts (which link to credit cards and bank accounts, if you don't already know.)
So all in all, he deserves to be kicked in the ballzez at the very least.
However you still will not find a a better emulator for android. Just whatever you do, be EXTREMELY careful if you decide to pay.
And if you know anyone who has managed to crack the paid version and where to download it, I would be very grateful. This is one case where pirating an app is not only justified, but the right thing to do. (its been removed from the market as have most of the emulators, due to this jerk causing so much trouble with his thieving ways.)
But here is the download link.
It really is a good program, despite its history. if you go to options there is an option at the bottom that takes you directly to a site that has all the arcade roms you could ever want. (it doesnt have the first game, tower of doom for some reason, but all you need to do is download the PC version and move the games from the ROMS folder and put them on your SD card.
And if anyone can find a full version that works, I am offering a bounty for it.
You may choose from any of these cards in RoB, and I will happily gift them to you.
